PURPOSE OF POSITION
 The Community Project Officer will be responsible for the direct coordination with communities to initiate social mobilization, organize or strengthen community based organizations and facilitate in the capacity building of communities for the preparation of village development plans, preparation of project documents and implementation of community driven initiatives.
Major Activity
           ·          Facilitate Broad Based Community Meetings (BBCM) at the village level and map out community resources with community or existing village organizations.
           ·          Assist communities in the formation of village organizations following the standard process considering the participation of women and other vulnerable groups
           ·          Conduct capacity building activities and the use of various tools that will support assessment, plan and proposal development, project monitoring and fund management within communities
           ·          Provide the needed technical support in the development of CDIs, linkages to relevant government line agencies and other resources in the course of project implementation.
           ·          Ensure with Community Grants Coordinator that the exit strategy/sustainability plan is fully implemented.
           ·          Assist communities in outsourcing funds to support funding of priority development needs as outlined in Community development plans.
           ·          Participate in the Grants Review Meetings to provide relevant information.
           ·          Facilitate the conduct of monitoring and evaluation of project activities in coordination with M & E unit, and other related activities/visits
           ·          Document and submit reports as required in a timely manner to concerned bodies.
           ·          Provide support and facilitation for the timely implementation of CDIs/Projects
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology, and Rural Development.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
           ·          Strong skills in communication, negotiation, mediation and coordination both oral and written.
           ·          Knowledge of the local culture, good communication skills in local language as well as in English.
           ·          Ability to work in and contribute to team building environment. Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts and capacity to work under pressure.
