POSITION TITLE: Caritas Internationalis (CI) Co-ordinator
LOCATION: Islamabad, Pakistan
REPORTS TO: CI Humanitarian Director, Rome
DURATION OF POSTING: 01 May 2011 and until closure of the CI Early Recovery, Rehabilitation, Restoration Appeal (ERRRA), currently scheduled for 31 December 2012.
BACKGROUND
Six (6) Caritas Member Organisations, namely Caritas Pakistan, CRS Pakistan, Caritas Netherlands (CORDAID), Caritas Ireland (Trocaire) Caritas Switzerland and Caritas Austria are responding to the early recovery, rehabilitation and restoration needs the unprecedented monsoon flooding that took place in July/August 2010 throughout Pakistan created.
An Emergency Appeal (EA 14/2010) comprising the programmatic emergency/early recovery response of 5 Members from August 2010 – end January 2011 was launched by the Confederation on 11 August 2010 and was revised upwards on 3 September 2010. Following consultations between CI and the 5 Member Organisations, a need was identified for a Caritas EA 14/2010 Co-ordinator based in Islamabad.
At the beginning of 2011, the participating delegations decided to launch a second, longer term Appeal in order to cover the Early Recovery, Rehabilitation and Restoration needs of the flood affected population. Moreover, during a CI meeting in Rome at the beginning of February 2011, the need for a CI Coordinator was reconfirmed.
The CI Co-ordinator will work closely with all 6 CI MOs operating in Pakistan for and on behalf of the Confederation with respect to CI ERRRA
The CI Co-ordinator will be based in the CRS Pakistan office for the duration of this assignment. In terms of job content and appraisal, she will report to the CI Humanitarian Director.
The CI Coordinator is responsible for establishing and maintaining a comprehensive coordination mechanism based on facilitation and consensus building. This mechanism should be inclusive of all the MOs involved at the country.
